3 Piece Taps
Standard or traditional taps come in a large variety of colours, shapes and sizes. Each set comprises three separate pieces - a hot tap, cold tap and an outlet. The taps are also referred to as assemblies. The hot tap should always be installed on the left and cold tap on the right.

Basin Top Tap Set
Basin top sets (or assembly) is a reference to taps that sit on the basin or vanity unit.

Wall Tap Set
Wall tap sets are mounted on a wall, usually for showers or baths but increasingly for above counter or wall hung basins.
Mixer Taps
Mixer or lever style taps provide a functional alternative to traditional taps. Mixers get their name from the fact that they mix hot and cold water to the desired temperature as it passes through a cartridge inside the unit itself. Ergonomic one-handed operation and a range of elegant designs have made the mixer a popular choice for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries.

Basin Top Mixer Tap
The traditional style mixer which sits on top of the basin or vanity unit. Available in a variety of size & reach options to suit the basin in question.

Wall Mixer Tap
A mixer that is mounted onto a wall, used today in both basin and bath installations alike.
Mixer Terminology
Cartridge - Inside all single lever mixers is a control cartridge with ceramic disc that controls the flow of water.
Pull Out Spray -This is a type of mixer where the top of the unit pulls out to create a hand held washer connected by a hose. These are ideal for washing vegetables or filling buckets.
Diverter - A diverter is a valve that allows you to divert water between two different outlets. These are often used for combined bath/showers as they eliminate the need for two sets of taps.
Helpful Tip: Consider your existing basin when buying new taps, if your current basin is a single taphole, then this means it is designed for mixers. If there are 3 tapholes, the 3 piece taps are required. see less
