Designers driven by eco-technology
With environmental awareness at an all time high, a host of new eco-technologies have recently emerged in the market place. While sustainability has long been a key consideration in the industry, clever advancements in technology have allowed designers around the world to create products that are more beautiful, and water-efficient, than ever before.
We give the low-down on some of the latest eco-technologies and developments.
Showers
The world’s leading shower designers have been paving the way when it comes to eco-technology in the bathroom. And one of the newest technologies to arrive on the market is the Nikles airdrop© technology, as seen in the new Nikles Pure range. This technology enriches every drop of water with air, resulting in a gentle shower spray. A unique air injection process combines the two elements in a series of mixing chambers, before delivering each rejuvenating droplet. And while the technology creates a superb showering experience, it also achieves impressive water savings. The compact airdrop© technology engine has also allowed for the design of ultra slim showerheads.
Taps
In the world of tapware, 6-star rated mixers have recently taken the market by storm. Aerator and flow control technology have allowed designers to create a range of mixers that use only 4-litres of water per minute. Importantly, these eco-friendly taps also boast designer good looks - from the subtle curves of the Porcher Seva and Ideal Standard Agate, to the sharp lines of the Milli Edge, technology is allowing designers to push the boundaries of eco design.
Toilets
Without doubt, the toilet is another product that has been impacted by eco-technology, with the number of sleek looking - and water-friendly - ranges that have recently come onto the market. Although Caroma’s Smartflush® technology was developed over a decade ago, it is now considered to be the benchmark in toilet suite innovation. With demonstrated water savings of up to 35,000 litres of water per year, Smartflush® technology uses only 4.5 litres of water for a full flush and 3 litres for a half flush. The newly-released Caroma Pearl and Milan suites feature this exciting technology.
