The Vulkan Lokring
The Lokring hand assembly tool needs no power supply and tube connections can be completed in four simple steps:
- Prepare the tube ends by cleaning with an abrasive mat.
- Loking stabilisation inserts may be required in tube systems that are exposed to mechanical loads or high pressure refrigerants.
- Apply either LT or HT Lokprep depending on the temperature requirements of the job.
- Insert the tube fully into the Lokring connector.
- Use the Lokring tool to complete the connection.
The Vulcan Lokring is an innovative tube connection system for the HVAC-R industry that provides solder-free tube connections for all refrigerant pipes in air-conditioning systems, industrial product cooling, heat pumps, solar thermal systems and geothermal energy.
It’s a solderless tube joining system based on a simple handtool process. And it has a number of benefits:
- There’s no need for hot work permits and nitrogen purging.
- Labour costs are reduced by up to 40%.
- Lokring is four times stronger than welding.
- It has been pressure rated for use with nearly all refrigerants including R410A and the very high pressure CO2 refrigerants.
- The range covers all pipe sizes from 1.6mm capillary up to 35mm and includes straight connectors, reducing connectors, elbows and “T” pieces.
- There are Lokring connectors available for use with hard-drawn and soft-drawn copper as well as stainless steel and even aluminium.
- Worldwide approvals are in place for use with refrigeration including TUV, UL and conformity to AS4041.
- Lokring connections reduce installation time and provide a cleaner and safer working environment.
- Heavy and dangerous soldering equipment is replaced by a simple hand assembly tool, Lokring tube connections and some Lokprep.
- The hand assembly tool needs no power supply.
Lokring prides itself on being a superior alternative to soldering. The simplicity of Lokring connections reduces installation time and labour costs while providing a cleaner and safer working environment for the installer.
