Refrigerant Guide
Pre Filled Cylinders
All Reece hvac-r branches stock a range of pre-filled refrigerants in 12kg, 22kg and 65kg cylinders*,
simply grab a full cylinder and go. We can even deliver the cylinder directly to your site and pick up
empty cylinders, saving you precious time. All cylinders are colour coded and clearly labelled for easy
identification. Valves are shrink wrapped to ensure the integrity of the refrigerant. Weatherproof
refrigerant identification labels for all the common refrigerants are also available from branches.
Refrigerant Reclaim
Reece hvac-r branches participate in the Refrigerant Reclaim Australia scheme. This allows licensed
contractors to receive a rebate per kilogram for reclaimed refrigerant returned to store. Reclaim
cylinders are available from store in 3 sizes (12kg, 22kg and 65kg*) rated to 5.2mPa compliant with R410A.
* R22 fill ratio.
R22 is a HCFC and is partly chlorinated and has ozone depleting potential. R22 is compatible with mineral oil. Import quotas apply and it will be phased out (as other chlorinated refrigerants have been) over the next 10 years. This means that availability will become unreliable in future.

A HFC blend refrigerant designed as a replacement for R22. Drier cores may require upgrading or changing and other minor system changes may be necessary. R407C is not compatible with mineral oils and the manufacturer recommends the use of polyolester oils.

R134a operates at similar pressures to R12 and is compatible with most materials used in R12 systems however different driers are required and some minor system changes may be necessary. R134a will not operate with conventional mineral oils used with R12 so the industry has elected in most cases to use synthetic polyolester lubricants in R134a systems.
Note: Ester oils absorb moisture at a much greater rate than mineral oils and should not be left open to atmosphere.

A near azeotropic blend designed to replace R22 however its pressure is approximately 50% higher than R22 and therefore is not safe to use as a drop in replacement. R410A is not compatible with mineral oils and it is recommended to use polyolester oil.
