HAITI: A reminder of the plumbers’ importance

The World Plumbing Day is a timely event in light of the ongoing sanitation crisis facing the people of Haiti.

The Haiti Earthquake in January claimed 230,000 lives with grim assurances from the Haitian Government that the death toll is certain to rise.

Reports have emerged of the spread of disease through poor water quality and the accumulation of raw sewage in public places.

The future of Haiti and its inhabitants depends on the availability of plumbers and plumbing engineers to address these diabolical sanitary conditions.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) maintains strict rules about entry into the country that requires specialised training by WHO.

Unfortunately there aren’t any plumbing engineers included.

Until this bureaucratic mess is cleaned up, sanitation solutions may be a long way off.
The issue is sure to be raised at the inaugural World Plumbing Day.
