The First World Plumbing Day
At last the World Plumbing Council (WPC) has organised a day to acknowledge what we’ve known all along: that the planet couldn’t survive without plumbers!
The first ever World Plumbing Day will kick off with a formal announcement in Beijing on 11 March 2010.
WPC Chairman, Robert Burgon, says World Plumbing Day will raise awareness of the important role played by today’s plumbing industry and plumbers themselves.
“Where countries have developed plumbing systems, the role of our industry is often taken for granted,”Mr Burgon says.
“In developing countries, many people have yet to discover the real difference that plumbing can make.”
The event will be an annual fixture on the calendar and will focus on a different theme each year.
The theme for this year’s World Plumbing Day is “Plumbing-Vital to Global Health” and will consider the extent to which plumbing helps limit mankind’s environmental footprint.
The day will remind the world of the huge part plumbing plays in ensuring public health and the health of the planet.
