This week on The Block was the most challenging one yet. Contestants were pushed to their limits, but winners Mitch and Mark had an easier week than most. They accomplished a lot, securing the Domain magazine cover and setting themselves up for success. Mitch believes that the property is coming together, and that his team’s improvements highlight the line of the home.
"This house never fails to surprise"
The judges were impressed with the home’s hallway, although they questioned the blue tiles that the duo used to break up the herringbone. Darren highlighted that it really detracted from the overall ‘Hollywood mansion’ effect—however they agreed that any prospective buyer would be impressed looking down from the stairwell.
Mitch and Mark’s show-stopping bathroom is an elegant powder room featuring some statement pink floral wallpaper. The mixer tap in brushed gold pops out from the white tiles behind, complemented by the exposed gold bottle trap, and a concealed cistern is paired with a back to wall pan for a clean look, putting the focus on the gold fixings.

With their token glamourous styling, Mitch and Mark turned their expansive space into a huge ensuite and walk in robe this week. It was a “manic” week for the duo, as they focused on completing a stunning space that reflects a continuation of the luxurious style they have become known for. Luckily, their hard work paid off.
"The boys have created the absolute ultimate master ensuite"
Like the rest of their bathrooms, Mitch and Mark’s studio ensuite evokes a sense of opulence, with both black and marble tiles contrasted against metallic fixtures throughout. It’s the ultimate place to relax and indulge, with the high back Laufen Palomba bath acting as a striking centrepiece. The boys have incorporated ample storage with a four drawer vanity unit and shaving cabinet, and are at the forefront of bathroom technology with an intuitive smart toilet with a washing function and night light.

It was a tumultuous start of the week for Mitch & Mark as they argued with Scotty Cam over his commentary during last weekend’s judging. To complement their planned terrace pool and entertaining area, the boys went off-book and built a small ensuite with rinsing shower, plus a kitchenette for catering! They felt like they’d achieved their “Palm Springs with added luxe” goal.
The judges were surprised but impressed by how the team continue to push the boundaries for what’s possible in The Block, and that’s why they took home the win this week. Neale instantly identified the Palm Springs influence and loved the sunshine palette. Darren said that although the room wasn’t to his personal taste, it had a strong cohesion with the rest of the home.
"They get better and better each time."
Mitch & Mark kept things minimal in their smaller ensuite space, employing a concealed cistern and the back to wall pan to reduce visual clutter. The wall hung vanity adds storage to the room while being easy to maintain. The classic look of the mirror contrasts the modern fixtures in the space, like the Mizu Drift Wall Basin Mixer Tap. Yellow tiles in the shower area complement the brass finishes, highlighting that a smaller room can be light and airy.

Mitch & Mark aren’t ones to play things safe, and we saw this again this week with their decision to break up their main bathroom into a third ensuite and laundry area. The judges loved the ensuite, from the simple terrazzo tiling of the floor to the luxurious taste. However, Shaynna questioned their decision to divide the laundry into smaller benches. Darren pointed out that the floorplan switch up meant there was a bigger contrast between the teams.
"These boys know luxury when they see it."
There’s an effective cohesion between Mitch & Mark’s guest ensuite and their main bathroom this week. The brushed gold finish is back, coming through in all the taps. There’s also a sense of tactility coming through the embossed wall tiles. The timber bench of the vanity brings an organic touch, and the shaving cabinet provides plenty of storage. For a luxe addition, the vertical towel rail ensures a warm towel every time.

Granddads and expert property flippers wowed the judges in the first part of the week, sliding into close second place right behind Jesse & Mel. Can they change their fates and snatch a win in the first week?
The judges were filled with praise for Mitch & Mark's guest ensuite. Shaynna couldn't get over the stunning tiles, Darren had high praise for their colour choices and Neale thought it was the pinnacle of Hollywood glamour. Unfortunately they lost out by half a point to Andy & Deb. Better luck next time, boys!
"A simplified version of glamour and it works"
Mitch & Mark’s guest ensuite features a pared-back day spa look. The smart toilet is located right near the door with cutting edge technology and a small profile that opens up the room. It’s a feeling of openness that is amplified by the wall hung vanity and the large mirror.
The GROHE rail shower offers 3 spray settings and a flexible design, while the concealed shower waste and frameless shower screen enhance the subtlety of the space. The brushed gold taps finish the cohesive gold story throughout.
